Scottsboro Cemetery Info

There is currently only one City owned Cemetery in Scottsboro, Alabama and that is Cedar Hill Cemetery. Currently the cemetery has approximately 20 acres of the 63 acres of land available for sale for burial plots. We offer grave plots for $400.00 each or a 4 (four) grave plot for $1,400.00.

The oldest part of the cemetery is located at the entrance on Cedar Hill Drive. There are graves dating back to the 1870’s. We have Civil War soldiers buried here as well as WW II, Korea and Vietnam soldiers. There is a lot of history represented in the Cedar Hill Cemetery from members of the first families of Scottsboro buried here to the people who were responsible for the building of Scottsboro buried here also.

Several streets throughout the cemetery are lined with Dogwood trees. The department have four full time employees who are responsible for the care and maintenance of the cemetery. They also work with the funeral homes and vault companies to serve the families of the people who are buried at our cemetery.

The City of Scottsboro has recently taken the responsibility of the care and maintenance of Scott Cemetery located on the ridge overlooking Hwy 35 and Hwy 72. This was a privately owned cemetery where the founder of Scottsboro, Mr. Robert Scott, is buried. The department is constantly looking for techniques and projects to improve the cemetery which will take us through the 21st Century. You are invited to visit our Cemetery.
