Storm Shelter Information

The City of Scottsboro has implemented a Storm Shelter Registration Program. This is a voluntary program designed to help emergency response personnel account for the citizens following a disaster event. Registering your storm shelter will assist rescuers in locating and rendering aid to your family after a weather-related emergency.

The Scottsboro Fire Department and Emergency Management Coordinator encourage citizens of Scottsboro with in-ground or above ground storm shelters to register the address and exact location of their storm shelters as soon as possible. Your registration information will be entered into a database and only used to help first responders gain access to you in the event you become trapped or injured and unable to exit your storm shelter.

Register your Storm Shelter or Safe Room online HERE or paper forms are available at Scottsboro Fire Station One, behind City Hall.

Additional information is available from the FEMA website:

FEMA Publication 320, which details specifications and guidelines for shelters and safe rooms.
